WELCOME TO DM/IS 10C Digital Images: Photoshop

  INSTRUCTOR: Jean McIntosh

Welcome to Photoshop online. I teach design and production for web and graphic design in the Department of Digital Media and Internet Services at West Valley College. Check out our department web site to learn more about us and our course offerings. Taking online classes can be challenging but once you get everything organized (textbook purchased, download most recent browser, etc...) I am certain you will absolutely love Photoshop.

I have experience in several aspects of publishing and was employed in various print/publishing environments before working in web design. I have undergraduate degrees in sociology and fine art, and am currently finishing up my masters degree in humanities at Stanford University. However, my interest in printmaking and digital graphics are still my most favorite pursuits, and drive my studies at Stanford. I am currently working on my thesis about Pirro Ligorio, a Renaissance artist, architect and antiquarian who created maps and prints of ancient Rome. My thesis focuses on a 1561 map Ligorio created of ancient Roman buildings and monuments, and intersects the fields of Renaissance printmaking, drawing, architecture and numismatics.

I very much admire my online students, as they are typically very self-motivated, and prove that distance learning can be an effective way to learn!
I hope you find the class informative and fun!

Please check the student gallery section. The students in this class produce great work!

Good luck and we'll see you in chat.

Jean
